“Audacious Book” is much too exuberant to just sit on a shelf. This flamboyant and eccentrically evolved book is a tribute to the boundless ambition of the printed word.

The full-sized sculpture is animated by manually rotating a hand wheel. This rotation actuates a chain of motion that moves the entire artwork. It appears to be warming up in preparation for takeoff.

Manual operation with steam engine era mechanisms was chosen over a push-button because books and machines share a basic truth: they both work completely in the open without being hidden behind a touch screen.
